I thought the earth remembered me, she
took me back so tenderly, arranging
her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds. I slept
as never before, a stone
on the riverbed, nothing
between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated
light as moths among the branches
of the perfect trees. All night
I heard the small kingdoms breathing
around me, the insects, and the birds
who do their work in the darkness. All night
I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling
with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.

for my birthday, tara surprised me with a unique and beautiful gift - a friendship photo shoot with this talented soul. denise is a kindred spirit, a wonderfully gentle and uplifting person to be around, and the three of us spent a warm morning on the beach and in the forest laughing, sharing, changing clothes, enjoying. this photo was taken at the very end - we were laying in a shady spot tucked away in on a blanket with all the pillows from my living room and i drifted off into a little daydream, completely relaxed in a place that always makes my heart content - looking up at the blue sky peeking through the leaves, soaking in the quiet. with my sweet friend. a lovely reminder of what matters in life. a reminder to lay outside more, and to be with those who love you for you, and inspire you to love you :)
of course, it's always nice when i finish the thing i am making...i seem to have many projects on the go at the moment, babies who are growing faster than i can knit their newborn gifts for, photos piling up faster than i can do something with...backgrounds ready for something (anything!) to lay upon them. a messy studio space. but that is me - following in the footsteps of my mother - i'm still waiting for ivy's baby quilt (hint, hint), but enjoying my creative craziness anyway. i finished a few journal pages off and started some more this afternoon...
i also made this bag over the weekend which i am quite in love with! i listed it in my etsy shop just now, along with some destashed fun stuff and some old class kits going out cheap.
i've had so much fun lately making some new things to sell - i kind of feel like a little girl playing 'shop', it keeps things exciting. thankyou to all my lovely customers and blog readers for your support!
and a couple of pics from the very cool museum today...definitely a colourful and inspiring place for anyone - i loved it as much as the kids did :)

do you just love fridays? i get so happy knowing that i can stay up late tonight with my love (more happy knowing i can sleep in tomorrow!) watching movies and knitting in bed, go to the beach, make pizza...just be together with my little family. maybe even squeeze in some creative time! yes, weekends are the best! to celebrate, i have another giveaway today! local and lovely jewellery-maker april is offering up these beautiful earrings...
art camp, day 2. preparations were underway for messy-book making tomorrow with some paper making. there will be no green smoothies for breakfast tomorrow as my blender started to smoke during the pulp-pulverisation process. while our very pink handmade paper was laying around in various spots in the fairy garden (looking oh so pretty), we dyed up some paper towels, envelopes and tags ready to use in our books. the girls LOVED this, especially the part where they 'accidentally' dyed their clothes pretty colours too...
if those purpley pink hands look like something your kids would be into, here's what we did:
