when the ultrasound guy (who has some major people skill issues) tells you this:
'well, i don't see a penis'
does that actually mean you are having a girl? or what????
it was such an anticlimax!

just wanted to let the gals who bought kits know i WILL be sending you emails with pics and further instructions on the projects, i am sorry it has not been done already but ivy decided to get sick this week to throw another dimension into my schedule! (poor love)
i am going to try and get it done in airports/on plane and have it emailed to you be next week at the latest.
i am also wading through a sea of emails, so apologies if you have not heard from me lately :) again, airport time will hopefully be spent catching up (unless i fall into temptation of a trashy magazine!)
also, a little heads up for perth girls...i am doing a class at my old LSS when i come over in may...spots are filling fast, all info can be found here. i can't wait to be back in the store where i very first started teaching!!

hi everyone!
posting the challenge a little bit earlier today as i am off to CHA (a big trade show for scrapbooking and other artsy fun stuff...can't wait to catch up with friends and see cool new product!)...next sunday will be interesting as i will be teaching in paris...but i REALLY want to try and make/post my card there - how cool will that be?!! but it will depend on internet access!
i just love feeling your excitement and passion for creating this simple piece of yourself every week, i love sharing in that with you - from all over the world! isn't it amazing the connections we can make with one another through our hobby?
i can't wait to see what you do this week...i may not have a lot of time to comment, but please share your links as i know so many people are enjoying looking through all the links and getting inspired by each other!
i have a 'thing' for peace signs. they just make me so happy to look at and are such a symbol of goodness and oneness.
this week's prompt is: a symbol you love. maybe you have something that is 'you', or that you are always drawn to, or even something from your childhood or past. think about a symbol that has significance to you...and incorporate it somehow!
this 'peeled paint' technique is so much fun to do - here is how if you want to try it...
1. paint your card with gesso and a layer or acrylic (you can skip the gesso if you sand the card instead.
2. fingerpaint blobs of vaseline/petroleum jelly onto the dried paint. gently paint another colour over the top. when the paint is dry, wipe with a paper towel and the vaseline slides away, revealing the base colour. use a wet wipe if you have any extra greasiness that need to be gone!
have a wonderful week and happy creating!

technically, its over in australia - but today IS the 26th :)
wish i had been there to sit on the perth foreshore with a picnic in the hot evening and watch the fireworks and get my yearly dose of yothu yindi!
what i miss:
the people. laid back and friendly. well, most of the time ;)
the land. i miss seeing the bush and the swaying trees in the hot summer breeze, the wide open clean beaches, grassy ovals and parks, places i played in when i was a kid.
the food. where do i begin?!! haha...mostly fish and chips at the beach, beetroot in sandwiches, ice-cream junction, aussie bbq's...i am really hungry right now so i should stop here.
i miss my family. i miss my friends. i miss smells and sights and shops! i am really proud to be australian. i have never been away from my country for so long before and i know i am going to cry when i land there in april! i am so grateful for what we have in australia - living away from home is such a great experience because you really see what you have, and how it has helped to make you who you are :)
so i hope you aussies had a great day! and for those of you who have never been to australia - i hope you get the chance oneday!

i have to say again that this whole mini art journal thing is making me SO happy! it is such a fun and quick way to get something out there - be it a mood, emotion, statement or just little piece of creativity. i really enjoy thinking during the week about what my little card will say or be next sunday...especially sitting in church ON sunday when i actually have to stop and sit and just be...i don't find it easy to sit still...so it's my time to reflect and also decide on what i will create when i get home!
so this weeks prompt is: i am. make an 'i am' statement for yourself - whatever it may be!
i glued making memories ledger paper on the card and did an image transfer over the top. if you want to try this, its easy and fun! you need to get some colour photocopies made of photos/images (at a printing place, at home won't work). you put the photocopy face down onto the space you want to transfer and 'paint' acetone (nail polish remover) on the back, then immediately burnish with a metal spoon. lift it off and it (hopefully!) will have transferred. definitely get more than one copy made up to allow for practice and who knows what! this one didn't transfer as well as in the past...its always a bit of a lucky dip - but thats the fun of art journalling, right?
letter stickers are heidi swapp - i trimmed and sanded them.
class kits for sale!
i know many people have asked in the past, and i finally cleaned up my class storage cupboard and have some spare kits to sell from classes i taught last year. there are only a few of each one available - $30 each including shipping (overseas may cost a little bit extra)...so basically first in, best dressed - email me (emily_amber79@hotmail.com) with what you want and i will let you know my paypal account.
once you have bought the kit i will also email you detailed instructions and pictures of each page of the project and techniques, and will be available via email for any questions etc. all kits (apart from art journal kit) have a printout of instructions also, that were given out in class.
ok - so here they are! travel journal, it's clearly love, life is beautiful, and deck of you. once you see the pics, click on them to read what each kit contains :)
happy week - can't wait to see your 'i am' statements! and remember you can join in anytime - hope you are having fun on the journey so far!
**edited...kits all sold! but i am taking down names for those who would like one, and i can re-order and hopefully send out in a few weeks time :)

i have really been looking forward to my little sunday afternoon aj sesh all week! feeling so inspired by all of your cards...i have seen every one that has been linked, and i hope you get the chance to browse through and peek at some of them!
i had the treat of hanging out with 2 of my cousins from australia - along with their wives, 2 kids and 2 friends this weekend as they are on a month long trip around canada and the us. we used to do alot together as kids, but you know how things get - we got older and busier and in the last several years have hardly seen each other apart from weddings :) so it got me thinking about the bonds a family has, our similarities and quirks that are so apparent despite years apart. how my cousin mark has the exact same hands as my dad. how we are all cheap and will park our cars miles away to save paying a few bucks! how we are all so tall with long legs and need our bikes adjusted if anyone else rides them - "better make it HILL HEIGHT!". we had the best fun riding bikes from venice to santa monica and i managed to get this one shot of us all on the pier...
i also love when i look short in a photo! {my cousins are mark - really tall one on right, and his wife leanne in the white jumper, their friends paul and jade next to them, then my other cuz jeremy in the red jumper with his wife lisa in the blue and their 2 cute kids}.
i loved that we were a big loud group of aussies!
so this led me to my prompt for the week: what is powerful to you?
sticker is by making memories :) other stuff is just random! i journalled my feelings on how i find families to be so powerful on the back. i think some weeks i will want to journal on the back, others not...do whatever works for you at the time!don't forget to post links so we can all enjoy. and if you are new to this - join in anytime, you don't have to catch up - just keep going for 52 weeks! can't wait to see the creativity flow!
