guess what night it is to-niiiiight?

pottery night! yes, i look forward with glee, GLEE i tell you for thursday nights when i steal away for 3 hours to mess about with clay...

Pottery

here i am (note gleeful expression) attempting my first bowl on the wheel - picture taken on a camera phone just seconds before it flew out of control into a wobbly heap. but thats ok. i go with the wobbles.

i'm doing the class at a local high-school that has an evening adult ed. program, it's so awesome to be in this big art department space surrounded by people making all kinds of different stuff with clay - so many styles and inspiration. cool people too, i'm loving it.

if you find a ceramics (or other insteresting, 'i-always-wanted-to-do-that') class near you - doitdoitdoit!!!

just incase we forget where we came from...

granni sent a reminder, in the form of christmas tree ornaments ~

Tree

of course they got put on our new tree straight away, in pride position: clumped centre-stage at ivy eye level. kookaburra, koala, 2 kangaroos and a metal map of australia that didn't make it to the special spot (hmm...come to think of it, ivy probably didn't know what it was...better start those geography lessons at once).

we decorated our tree today, this is a first for me - actually being organised before some frantic stage in mid-december. organised is the wrong word really - if you could see my lounge room floor you would understand. but the tree is done and looking (and SMELLING! oh how i love having a real tree!) LOVELY :)

to add to our patriotism, we have been indulging in some treats from here - bit of a rip-off you might say but quite worth it in my opinion. i may not be pregnant anymore but have you seen the size of that healthy baby of mine? gotta give into my cravings to produce that award winning milk!!!

anyone else not going home for the holidays? lets have a cyber sob party together!!!

art journal challenge - week 47

hi everyone!

another late night horror photo for you this week - i had a nap this afternoon and woke up in the dark! it's getting darker and darker in the early evening and i actually quite like it :)

this week's prompt is: your happy place!
where can you go and be happy? do you have a special spot somewhere, or will any comfy couch or tree or cafe do it for you? think of 'your happy place' for this weeks card. mine is the beach!

Aj47

scrolly stamp is 7 gypsies, clip is making memories (and will not fit into the pouch but i loved the clip so much!), photo pen is by zig.

have a happy week!

giving thanks

a while ago i mentioned on my blog that i wanted to start a grateful journal - a little book where i can write something everyday that i am thankful for. a simple little thing that can have a big impact...i made my journal a few weeks ago for my today's mama article and decided to start it today, on thanksgiving and write one piece of gratefulness everyday for a year.

Th7

you can make a grateful journal from anything (i layered lots of notepaper, envelopes, tags etc) to keep by your bed and jot down one little thing each night. i have 1-7 on each page, 52 pages for the entire year. go here for more pictures and instructions for my journal.

happy thanksgiving!

can i just say...i'm pretty stoked about THIS...

Ck_2

i got a phone call out of the blue a few weeks ago from the editor of creating keepsakes magazine inviting me to be part of a new team of contributors for next year - i'm quite excited as i've had a little break the past year from magazine work and am ready to get back into it.

back in the day - 2003 to be precise, i purchased my first ever australian scrapbook magazine (scrapbook creations) while wandering around coogee beach in NSW. ivy was just a little baby and we were hanging out while mick was at a conference there. it was such a luxury for me to buy a magazine back then on our student income, and i savored every page. at the back was a call for layouts - paying a sweet $25 per page - i thought YEAH - imagine all the supplies i could buy with $25 (apparently i used to have more simple needs), and so when i got home i scanned in some of my best pages and emailed them off. a few weeks later (and i will never forget the moment) i got an email from the editor herself saying she loved my pages and would i like to be a regular contributor to the magazine - it was SO EXCITING i cannot tell you. i began writing regular articles for them for the next 3 years and loved having such a creative outlet and sharing ideas. when the magazine would arrive in my mailbox each month i would wait all day until ivy had her afternoon nap, then lay on my old couch on the verandah in the sun looking through it. i remember feeling anxious as the day wore on, waiting to see how my stuff had turned out on the pages!

that was the first and only time i have ever officially submitted something! i have really enjoyed all the projects, publications, collaborations and workshops i have been involved in since then - and i love thinking back to how it all started with the purchase of that magazine and thinking - hey - i could do this!

so, having been a CK reader since way back - can't wait to be part of this new adventure!

art journal challenge - week 46

hiya! hope your weekend was a fun one - MINE WAS - a girl's weekend with wonderful friends - laughing, shopping, eating, being crazy, talking about all those things you just can't with guys around, the inside jokes (i'm ollld greeeg), kindred spirits. i loved it and i feel so rejuvenated and filled up with goodness to last me the next little while.

this week's prompt is: rejuvenation.
what do you do, how do you do it etc!

Aj46

covered the card in making memories word fetti (love that stuff!) and sanded it all. layered a scrap of fabric over a scrap of lace to make a little flower. 'enjoy' word is from a post-it note.

have a great week!
