domestic bliss
today i felt something that is not normal. i felt excited to do a load of washing. i didn't even need to do one - i scrummaged up some random dirty things to wash and threw them in. the reason behind this madness is this: i have my very own washing line!
it has only taken 6 months of nagging and finally a threat to do it myself (i was really kidding) for mick to create this masterpiece. yes, it is his own design and finding those logs was an all day process.
i am excited because:
- i no longer have to haul that akward and fragile clothes horse in and out of the house
- the garage will no longer have random clothing and sheets draped off every hook, bike and treadmill
- i will rid myself of 'dryer-guilt' re. the environment and our electricity bill
- i love the smell of sun-dried laundry
- ivy is excited to hand me pegs, and i forgot she used to do this when she was teeny in australia
- it feels like a real backyard now ;)
while i was busy admiring my washing line, ivy was busy creating quite a tablepiece around yindi's dinner bowl. she claims she was practicing for the 1st birthday celebrations that will be happening this weekend! yindi seemed to like it, and only tried to eat one of the flowers ;)

oh great washing line
i long for sun dried laundry
but being winter and in victoria...not a chance so the dryer will be on here today!
:(

I would love a clothes line like that!! I never thought to just make one.
I hang dry most of my clothes. We do have a dryer but I only use it for some items. Not only is hanging your clothes environment friendly, it also keeps your clothes in good shape alot longer.
Unfortunatley, our winters are way long so outdoor drying isn't always pratical.

I love the smell of sun dried laundry too! There is nothing like that!

LOL, FAB photo, really love that!! Kudos to Ivy for wonderful decor and the whole peg deal, it's fun to play (and work) with pegs - remember the sewn peg bags from home? As for the clothes line, it's great, sunshine is good for clothes and people, makes us happy campers :)

P.S. Is Yindi really going to be a year old?? How is that possible?

lovely line, looks fabulous - well done mick the handyman! we always hang everything outside, much nicer or maybe it's because we don't actually have a dryer and probably never will too ;)

I love my clothesline! No kidding, every time I hang a load of laundry up to dry, I look back and admire it. I thought I was weird to enjoy it so much. I have fond memories of living in Hawaii and my now 18 year old daughter, would sit in the wicker basket while I hung up clothes. The line was on a bit of a hill, I was afraid she would roll down the yard! The other day my 15 year old son did a load of his own laundry. The dryer was sitting right there, but he took his wet clothes out to the backyard and hung them up in the sun to dry...I could not have asked for more. Yea for you and your sun kissed clothes!

I wish my line was as nice as that, well done Mick! We have that same basket :) Theres ot much as satisfying as a line full of nappies!
Yindis spot looks perfect, this year has gone so fast, i remember when they were teeny babies.....

Sending over a big whoo hoo to your man for being so awesome :)

Have a wonderful birthday, beautiful Yindi!
By the way-Yindi's dinner looks really good.

Happy Birthday darling Yindi
Your washing line looks fab
As Jacqui said, I too am in Victoria and it is cold and no outside drying for me!
Love Ivy's hair - my two girls had their hair cut off short abut 4 weeks ago much easier to manage

I really love the way clothes on the line look. :) So cozy. Your backyard is so tropical looking! The problem I have with hanging my clothes is that they slide into each other & won't dry. It's so windy underneath my porch. :(

Wow! Only 6 months??? Lucky you! I took me 4 years to get my hubby to put one up for me! I guess he thought my wooden racks were fun for me. We haven't used a dryer in over 9 years. It's incredibly liberating. :)

I love your wicker clothes basket. And I absolutely love sun dried clothes and sheets. Alas, I have no clothes line and no wonderful Mick to hang one for me. Lucky you.

I wish I had a back yard like you. I love sundried clothes too.

How great! I just got an umbrella style clothesline from someone on Freecycle... I just have to get my hubbie to put it in the ground for me! I can't wait to smell the sun-dried laundry, too.

There really is something quite not sure the right word exactly about the feeling you get from clean laundry hung on the line. but its awesome.
