real life, a walk to the park

it's been a while since we went for a walk - i love walks with ivy because she is even more chatty than normal! and yindi is happy as larry in her pram, pointing to flaaaa's (flowers) and doggies!

my crazy climber girls, doing their thing! and me doing my thing, sitting (after such a strenuous walk and all) and snuggling when snuggles are needed.

"mumma, how come the 'merican flag looks just like the 'stralian flag?" - um, time to hang a 'STRALIAN flag from our front yard tree methinks to clear up any confusion...and daily practice of advance 'stralia fair for good measure!

it's nice to see the real life from someone else's point of view too...although it seems our common view is pretty much always going to be mess! happy mess is good mess though!

my friend vicky who inspires me in so many lovely ways, is doing a week of 'real life' pictures on her blog, and i am joining in! a fun little project to remind me to get my camera out everyday this week and capture life right now.

ignoring the trails of destruction, i sat outside in the sun enjoying these two being very sweet friends, and kindly picking and poking treats into the rabbit's home. and everything felt ok in my world :)

mick and i were cracking up last night after the discovery of a self portrait ivy made of herself - i have to scan it and attach it to the back of my card...it was the cutest and funniest thing ever to us! i can't wait to hear what made you *lol* (ha)!

rainy day wishes

ivy has been SO SO awesome to me over the past few weeks as i have lay around in my morning-sickness misery - she entertains yindi so i can sleep in a bit, she makes little snacks for the two of them, she pats me on the back and says 'awwww poor mumma' after my trips to the porcelain princess. she has such a sweet heart. we had a day off school last week and i was feeling ok, so as a special thankyou treat she could choose what we did for the day (under $20 thanks ivy).

of all things she just wanted to go to california pizza kitchen! i think becase we went there with granni last year and she thought it was a very special place! plus they have fancy twirly pasta. and free crayons and colouring-in-books. so a girls lunch date it was...

'cheers!' - a must at every meal and snack around here. lunch was shared, strewn and devoured (the wait staff cheered themselves when we left i'm sure), and then we were off to the other ivy's house to gather friends for 'last-hour-free' at (a locals secret we discovered last year!) at legoland...

wheeee! fun was had by one and all!

and little yindi - well her rainy day wish was just to run about and splash in all the puddles - and how can you say no to that face?

don't throw away your old shirts, i need them for pants!

i made my first pair of yindi-pants this week, and there's no stopping me now! they are so very easy, thanks to soule mama's lovely book the creative family (online instructions here) - i made them from an old top of mine (i made the mistake of asking the dreaded question - 'is this flattering on me?' to which i received a big fat no from my darling). so pants it was!

no new pants should be treated with the disrespect of staying at home all day, so we set off for an afternoon at the aquarium...

oh how i adore these two together!

too beautiful

my mum sent me an email about this amazing sculpture garden that was destroyed in the victoria bushfires last week, the art is amazing and how magical to be displayed out in the bush. i have to share with you some of the images...






i was so sad to hear that this magical place was all gone, i can barely imagine how much the artist would be hurting over this... anyway, i looked up the artist himself - bruno torfs, and was happy to read on the website that while his home and the garden were severly damaged in the fires, many of the sculptures can be saved and re-worked, and he plans to re-build his sculpture garden - awesome, i want to visit one day.

thanks so much to all of you who bought a print - we raised well over $500 for the bushfire appeal! with so many orders i have been slow to ship them - they will be going out in the next few days, thanks for being patient with me :)

52Q - 7

Q - what would you do if you knew you could not fail?

i first read this question several years ago in the book 'ever wonder' by kobi yamade (an awesome thought provoking little book), and it is something i often think about. my answer changes constantly and that is part of the fun...as with this art journal challenge - our answers would most likely be completely different during a different period of your life, and that is the cool part...you can go back in a year and re-ask yourselves these questions! it would be interesting to see the changes.
