it's a fun project i did with the gals in italy - a funky little book made from big and small file folders to hold 10 of your fave ever pics! theirs were all crazy colourful and beautiful - everyone puts their own spin on it which i LOVE...give the shop a ring if you want to join us tomorrow in vista, CA. *etsy update! i need to take some pictures of the skirt madness ready to list in my etsy shop - they will go up on monday morning (by 10 pst) - some messy journals are in there now and more teeny weeny and love journals coming tonight!
a week or so ago, i moved around some furniture in an attempt to hate my living room less - and maybe spend some time in there instead of always hanging out on my bed with associated jumping, pillow fighting and crumb making (them, not me).
mick made these 2 lovely playstands for christmas a year ago and up until now one has been living in the kitchen and the other one in here - being dragged outside from time to time to create various cubbies, hotels and shops. the room is teeny but there was just enough space to make our 'cozy corner' - with some special things on the shelves to play with, a basket of books nearby and all things to take care of dollies - it's the perfect place for two little sisters to hang out together. they drape a cloth over the top for extra privacy (ivy is all about privacy and alone time right now)...and if 'someone' is speaking unkindly or acting especially bossy they are both sent straight to the cozy corner to love it out - and it works! a bowl of corn chips thrown in doens't hurt either...
now, if only someone would send ME to the cozy corner...i'd love to have a little nap right about now!
i wish i had a picture to share of my electric blue gigantic flare legged pants i fashioned myself to wear to a phish concert when i was 18. they were hot. and not the first item of clothing i had attempted to sew sans-pattern either. there was the denim and tartan waistcoat from the early 1990's, as well as several jeans-turned-skirt disasters and many shameful accessories i'd rather not admit to.
after devouring soule mama's book the creative family i went about making pants once again for yindi - only this time with instructions (from her book), and not in stretchy electric blue fabric either! i keep a box full of clothes for 'repurposing' - stuff that doesn't fit or has stains/holes and when that pantsmaking mood strikes (and it does!), i can rummage through and find something to turn into something else...my passion for pants has since turned into skirts - with a few dresses along the way...

we recently started attending a 4-H bunny club with our friends and it is about the cutest thing ever. a gathering of little girls once a month all with their bunny rabbits - they weigh them in, they discuss care and grooming, different bunny breeds etc etc. did you know that a boy bunny is a buck, and a girl bunny is a doe? yeah, i didn't!
this week's meeting was held at the leaders home so we could visit her rabbitry and the sweet little month old baby bunnies! is there anything cuter?!!

and what of poor old munsy while her owner clucked over these little ones? well, she sat with 'grandma' (yes, apparently i am grandmother to a rabbit - and i thought turning 30 felt old) in her little travel basket quietly watching the action...probably happy those little squeezy hands were not on her for a change!
i've been feeling not-so-inclined to blog this week, so i'm sorry that things are a bit quiet. i've been using that burst of mid-pregnancy energy to stay up way too late being seamstress-y and and sorely paying for it the next day. you'd think i'd learn my lesson but the lure of an evening all to myself is too precious to pass up these days.
i'm feeling very large.
strangers are starting to give that sympathetic look and ask 'not long now?'. ahem, yes - at least 3 months and an international move thanks for asking!
have been reading birthing from within (love it)
and watching the business of being born (very interesting!) and org*smic birth - i recommend all if you are pregnant for some inspiration!
i hope to be feeling more interesting soon, or at least take some pretty pictures to share. i'm sewing up a storm ready for a big etsy update next week (probably monday) so i will love you and leave you with this one pic of my pretty little girl in her (one of many!) mumma-made skirt...

a few years ago while teaching a class in LA, i met tiny spunky little cathy and loved her energy. i seem to remember she has some job she didn't love and wanted to change that - and do something she did love - scrapbook! now, she runs a successful scrappy kit club called label tulip - each month putting together a bunch of lovlies and sending them out to crafties all over to make cool stuff. lucky me - she sent me this month's kit and so i dusted off my spiderwebby paper trimmer and adhesive and sat down with ivy to scrapbook! after fingerpaintning this together, ivy requested that i name this layout 'cool dudes'!!! (all of a sudden my 6 year old is walking around calling me DUDE, agh!). this photo really cracks me up - a pair of very coolio ivys indeed.
