so...we board a plane for australia in 10 days. we move out of our house in 7. mick has officially finished work as of today and things are frighteningly real!
i'm still filling skirt orders
and camera strap orders
and making myself stretchy pants
and generally procrastinating
therefore
i present to you in all it's glory...
my um, studio!
my darling friend lisa, when recently describing my creative space to another friend - told her it was a place where she feared for her life should she slip and break her neck! i laughed. then i came home and realised it was true.
this is the floor in my kitchen (otherwise known as skirt making central, and not a place where food gets prepared, unless it is toast or cereal)...
you'll note i like to create a familiar workplace for myself - recreating the magic from the studio to allow inspiration to flow more freely...
ahem.
believe it or not i went through this room of madness (and the garage - too ashamed to take a picture of that mess which should tell you something) to fill some boxes to the brim with excess supplies ('cos i have quite a few you see). leftover class kit stuff, product i have been given, stuff i've bought and never used.
if you'd like a lucky dip box check them out in my etsy shop - i may or may not have some other stuff going in there tomorrow. i'll be closing up shop on monday though - so last chance for straps and journals!

its all very creative looking em, put it in a famous art gallery & it could pass for modern soft sculpture titled "a day in the life of a creative woman"!!!! ...if it makes you feel any better, lie on the floor & look at the ceiling, I'm sure thats very clean & tidy, haha ! You will do it, breathe deeply & think happy thoughts. lots of love xxxx

Em you make me feel so not so alone....winks.
I am a collector and procrastinator of all.
My daughter is 29 and I have everything I bought her since she was born. I even have my first barbie and all the accessories, and many collections and art supplies of many crafts along the years. I know sinful just sinful. I think if I ever had to move I would just have to pack up what I love the best and say bye bye...lol...but seriously my Dad died two months ago and he was a collector all his life and probate is killing us. I am getting serious about downsizing my "stuff" and living like a gypsy...if it can't fit in the wagon, I don't need it....lol, just my art stuff and some clothes. I know you are excited and it is sad for us in the states, but we know we are just a click away. Have someone pack for you. Here is the trick. Get a wet washcloth, something to throw up in and lay on the sofa...that pitty will go along way and it will be done and all you have to do is grab the girls and get on the plane. Just kidding but not really, it does work. LOL

You Darling girl!!! We are SO soul mates. I work best in rooms that look like that. Although there is a part of me that LOVES the concept of being organised and having everything in it's place, the reality is MESS!!! Things everywhere-you have to see it, otherwise how can you be inspired to use it!!! The move will happen. You will do it. From one procrastinator to another, the longer you leave it, the better it will be. Good luck with everything. LOVING my camera strap.

It's like an artist's palette - I have to have everything spread out so I can SEE all the creative possibilities and let the mojo flow baby....

lol :) love it, neat and tidy inhibits creativity.

us creative folk aren't born to be 'tidy' ☺ it is so nice to hang out/visit people who are arty farty - you go for the companionship and a chinwag - it's just no fun going to play with a friend whose place resembles a clinical operating theatre...blahhhhhhhhhh
godspeed to wa

You're a crazy woman and you make me feel normal! Ha! Take care, good travels, and once it's done, it's done! Bet you are excited!

haha! at least i'm not the only one that has a messy creative space:) my mess has somehow traveled from my studio to the kitchen table, the bedroom floor and the living room couch. my husband is very kind for putting up with me.

I may have missed it, but i've got a 5 month old that doesn't sleep, but are you coming back to perth? and how come?
Wish I could get one of those lucky dip boxes, but i totally get the need to purge :)

Sounds like fun though! As long as it looks pretty on the floor, I think it is ok. How else can you see to work? The floor is the largest space to lay everything out! lol Seriously, good luck with the packing and moving. It won't be long now.

Hey!!!
FIRST!!!I'm so excited to be a recipient of the Lucky boxes!!! I also ordered the LAST messy journal-I'm REALLY lucky!! They were two separate orders and I see that you ship on Sat! So you can throw them in one box if you like!Does that make your life a teeny tiny bit easier???
SECOND!! I wish I could relax and let go as far as the house! I spend so much time cleaning and almost none creating...So OCD! I hate it! What is the secret of letting go?
Its so stiffling..I guess..three words..THER-A-PY!!!I should actually make download one of your pics..if its okay, hang it up where I can see it and say a mantra..its OKAY to make a mess!!! Many hugs and good luck this week!!!

Em, thanks for the honest posting! My workspace looks alot like yours. I end up on the floor working and it doesn't bother me. Also, LOVE the pink polka dot strap that I bought on Etsy from you. It arrived yesterday. Hugs and travel safe!

If rooms like that have doors, they can stay that way forever! I have to pretend to clean my space cuz it's the dining room, which is open to the rest of the house! I'd love a room with a door, but I like being able to see what's going on!
Enjoy your last 4th of July here, at least for awhile!
And good luck with all of the packing, moving and good byes. It's tough to leave, but going home is great! Safe and fun travels!!

I see you move overseas the way I move overseas. :p Only I went the opposite direction, from Down There to here, lol.
I had a garage sale and sewing room giveaway 3 days before I left, and people would stand in the door of the sewing room and back away slowly, rofl.

Another procrastinating mess-maker checking in, I think tidy studios are highly over-rated :) Good luck with the move, when all else fails chuck it all in boxes and sort it out at the other end. Have I mentioned how jealous I am that you're going home to lovely old Perth? I believe I have :) Bon voyage!

Aw Em, I missed out on your Lucky boxes for sale, but I really don't have anywhere to put it. My working space is all covered right now in my room and needs to be cleaned also. Life is so short, do you want to remember having a clean house, or living life to it's fullest. Have a safe trip, you and your fam! Hugs Rainy
