(re)introducing them to the locals.
the girls and i went off on what may be our last big day out for a while...to a local wildlife park. nothing could be better for 2 little animal lovers than getting to hand-feed and pat all kinds of kangaroos in the acres of parkland they roam in. unlike the roos we see eating mum's veggie patch these were very tame - one didn't even mind when yindi accidentally stepped on it's tail!
there were lots of little joeys snuggling in their mumma's pouches - all day long we say tiny feet and tails sticking out, and finally late in the afternoon ivy sat feeding this beauty and out popped little baby's head! it was beautiful.
and then i turned around to find yindi munching away on a gumleaf as well!
finally, have you ever seen such a funny creature as a wombat? they really crack me up - oh we love australian animals...strange and wondrous things!

living in the living room
(can you tell i am a real homebody right now?)
rainy days = living room living. i'm getting through some good books at the moment from my spot on the red couch, sometimes i switch it up and work on the baby blanket i started for yindi and will probably finish for my 4th child!!
sweet yindi busies herself with just being cute in front of me - bringing me puzzles and noddy books and generally being adorable. i could look at that little face all day long i tell ya...from the comfort of the red couch of course where i lure her over for kisses and snuggles (lucky for me she's quite obliging!)...

when soup is bubbling on the wood stove
with freshly made artwork like this on the fridge
and when it's just me and her singing and making popcorn (also on the wood stove!) with the sun streaming in the windows...
every day i appreciate these little things - life changes so quickly so i know i have to make the most of what i have right here right now!

yesterday was messy fun at scrapbooks from the heart - earlier in the week i was wondering why on earth i agreed to doing a workshop less than 3 weeks before my due date but it ended up being awesome and getting me excited about artmaking again (it's been a while!)...
everyone was so lovely and made the most inspiring pieces! and i got to make one along with them too :)
down the back sat my mum and ivy - they worked away like little mousies...cute cute cute!
seeing the finished masterpieces was the best! here are a few we got pictures of...
then ivy got bored and covered her hands in paint
i probably would have too if i wasn't pretending to be mature and responsible ;)
i came home and finally organised the crafty stuff i brought home with me in my nice pink studio. now i'm hoping to make some more stuff this week!

Q - how do you create your nest? moving countries with only 8 suitcases had me carefully selecting my favourite things to create my 'nest' in our new home...colour, quilts, special little things.

happy dreads
i've been asked several times lately if i was growing out my dreads - which made me realise hmmm...! might be time for some maintenance on these bad boys - last time i had them 'done' (loose hairs crocheted back in) was in thailand, and that was sadly a long long time ago! luckily i have a dreadie friend here in perth who knew of a place to go - so off we went on a child-free day out to weirdsistas in freo (where else?!!) to get our locks tamed :)
i really should have taken a before and after shot...they are so much prettier now i feel like a new gal!
after our scalps had been twisted and tightened, we set off to this place for some yum-yums...
which included this and a tofu burger that was too delicious to take a photo of (=starving pregnant woman could not pause for a moment before biting into the goodness)
it was a very lovey day!
(if you live in perth and want some sweet dreadies of your own make sure you check out the weirdsistas, they were awesome and much gentler on the ol' head than those thai boys!)
