ever since my 1000th post last week i cannot stop thinking about you all.
it was so exciting to read your comments, and hear where you are from. i feel so lucky to be connected to you all in some small way! people are sunshine, life is beautiful...i need that reminder sometimes and i always find it here, with you. (thankyou!)
so anyway - thinking about you all, in your many different homes and places around the world...i thought about how cool it might be to make a little piece of artwork all together. the possibility has me quite excited. i will start something off, and send it on,,,and it will get sent on and on, each time having a little something added to it until it finally makes it's way back again.
what do you think?
it will be light, for inexpensive postage purposes!
the journey would of course be documented (silly photographs welcomed), and shared here,
sign in here (with your email address and location) if you'd like to be part of some round-the-world-artmaking, and i will contact you with further instruction!

it is getting chilly around here and my new slippers have been getting lots of use. there is something so lovely and nurturing about a pair of slippers, don't you think? it's a little bit of cosy kindness for yourself.
if you are in my part of the hemisphere you may be in need of some slippers yourself. i noticed a LOT of slippers in my etsy favourites and thought = why keep these findings all to myself? seeing as i have already satisfied my shopping urges by placing these in my favourites (thus tricking myself into retail therapy without actually spending any money), i don't mind sharing! (note the alarming amount of present...hmm...)
wouldn't banjo look fine in these little moccasins? i may have to buy these ones for real. ivy
ivy has a pair of these sunshadow slippers (blue, with turtles, she would want you to know.) handmade here in aus by a mumma and her children, awesome!
if you can crochet (which i can't darnit), you could be really clever and make your own from kelly's pattern
i think these are really cool and weird but cool and i can imagine mick wearing them
cute cute cute little mary janes
and made from odd socks mama mary janes
not green, but so very very sweet - mushroom slippers
(i do love toadstools. and slippers, did i mention?)
and then there's the slippers i made - i was proud of those wasn't i? instructions (seem to be missing the pictures though) on todays mama
cold night + slippers + daggy old trakky pants + crackling fire + knitting + milo...does it get any better than that?
what about you? slippers (please link faves so i can add to my collection) - do you love them, wear them? or are you a sock or uggy person? i am all of the above.
anti shoe, i'm all for the cosy slippy!

it's been one of those weeks
(although i feel like that almost every week lately!)
mick is away, and banjo won't sleep. so i've been getting very frustrated and losing my temper more often than i should,
but this little one reminds me to be nice.
-i groan "banJOOO!" as he flaps his chubby arm right as i guide a spoon towards his mouth, resulting in applesauce all over both of us (and the high chair, the floor, the walls...).
"MUMMA! don't be cwoss with banshow. he's VEWY NOICE!"
-after asking patiently the first 10 times i snap at ivy to put her shoes on like, NOW!
"MUMMA! don't be cwoss with affee! he's VEWY NOICE!"
-a gentle guide of my foot (guide, i said guide not kick) and mutterings of some kind sends the chicken back outside where she belongs...
"MUMMA! don't be cwoss with shing-ja. he's VEWY NOICE!"
'"WHO LEFT THE DOOR OPEN AND LET GINGER INSIDE AGAIN?"
"MUMMA! (giggles) don't be cwoss with ME-EEEE. i'm VEWY NOICE!"
with that face and that voice she can get away with anything (even calling all girls 'he'). oh, i love this girl SO MUCH.
and i will be nicer tomorrow, i will!

this is my 1000th post!
i can hardly believe it. i've put off making this post because i wanted to do something awesome, but this week 'awesome' is me actually getting on the computer without someone clambering on top of me, so here i am...hello!
awesome is also you, my blog readers. i started this humble blog 5 years ago for my family and friends, and now there are many more than mum, auntie june and becky reading this thing which is both scary and lovely mixed into one. i've made some amazing friendships through this blog, met really cool people, connected with people i've never met in real life, felt part of something, been understood (and probably misunderstood!) and supported.
thankyou for being here when i have gone through some of life's big ones, such as
the birth of my littlest girl and boy
that crazy time when we moved across the world to los angeles
the crazy time when we moved back last year
travelling for workshops in amazing cities (and meeting some of you in real life. so fun except i always go bright red)
and just celebrating real life.
(which is the most important thing!)
a lot (a LOT) has changed and happened to me in the past 5 years and i'm grateful to have had a place to write whatever, whenever...and connect/share/love/feel/grow/laugh/express/be brave/make/listen/recharge.
more unknown + big changes coming my way this year, it's nice to know i have you along for the ride.
big big love to all of you,
em xo
*edit - yeah! to celebrate pleeeease please say hello + where you are from, i love hearing your stories too...

today was a yummy, yummy day.
nicole and i had a grand day out in the city, it was a day of indulgence and inspiration.
first stop was boucla - divine cafe of coolness. we squeezed ourselves into this tiny little nook off the main eating area - it was visual heaven - i want a room in my house to look just like this one day!
then more heaven arrived in the form of these cakes. chocolate ricotta cake and more chocolate deliciousness with berries on top. OH.MY.GOODNESS. i have never before eaten such deliciousness!
my little banjo boy! oh it was just so lovely and sweet to have him all to myself (no big sisters fighting for his attention), to just have one little sprout to take care of for the day is a treat all in itself. even though i was full from cake all day but i did enjoy nibbling on this baby non-stop.
next stop was a quirky little art shop with all sorts of fun things to look at, touch and ohh and ahh over. what is it about art supplies that gets me way more excited about any other kind of shopping? i think its all the colours and the possibility behind each of those unopened lids!
we had to stop in front of my favourite wall in fremantle...(chels, the band-aid is still there see?!!)
some more wandering in and out of quaint little inspiring shops (full of things we couldn't afford but were lots of fun to look at anyway!) and we ended up at japingka gallery to see some exhibitions = amazing artwork.
oh, what a lovely day! i'm all inspired and ready to make cakes and paintings tomorrow. a break from the daily madness is always a good thing!

i've been working my way through old boxes we stored while we were away living in america, and i recently uncovered a GEM! a box full of old journals. and those journals full of declarations of love for a certain geeky teenage boy.
this was the very first time i decided i was in love with him, at twelve years old!
many more pages followed in the years to come, with fine font work such as this...
then we got our first family computer and well - the cutting edge of technology led to print-outs such as these...
(you know you really mean it when you type.it.out.)
more 'EH+MF 4 EVA''s can be found on the inside wardrobe door in my old bedroom, and carved into a tree in my high-school best friend kelly's paddock.
at least 3 books are dedicated to the pain and suffering of un-requited love during the mid 90's.
but, as we are coming up to our 12th anniversary of being together, i can say - it was worth it all :)
i really really love this guy.
