spark was a really special thing. i'm still smiling at the thought of all the lovely people, the artistic eye-candy all over the venue, and the vibe that buzzed about as 200 women opened their hearts to new friendships and creativeness.
i loved how at the very beginning of the event rhonna challenged everyone to throw fear and self-doubt out the window and be open to new possibilites. i carried this with me as i walked up to my classroom to begin the first workshop. i am absolutely my own worst critic (aren't we all?!!) and normally have this crazy inner dialogue happening before i teach a class, full of "willtheyliketheprojectwhatifeveryonethinksi'mlame?dammitishouldhavemadeonemoresampleihatewhati'mwearing" that kind of thing. so, i banished such thoughts from my head! it felt good. we all need to be kinder to ourselves don't you think? the venue had little reminders of this hanging in random places here and there and i loved reading them.
i really felt so excited to introduce everyone to wet-felting. not a single person had ever done it before so it was awesome to see them amazed and excited about this beautiful art-form! i felt such a thrill when it was introduced to me, because there is just so much you can do with it. i showed everyone some variations on necklace-scarves and also how to make felt beads and then let them go wild!

the colour in the room was pure joy! everyone was so insanely creative and made the most amazing things. thankyou to all of you lovelies! you inspired me so much, and your immediate friendliness along with willingness to jump right into those bags of wool made it such a fun place to be :)
the two little ones came with me to utah, with various friends and my mum babysitting during my classes (thankyou dear ones!) but this little felter wanted to come and join us for a bit, and with a face like that who can say no?
detail was in abundance. it was such a yummy, inspiring setting to be in. the girls all did an incredible job!
(this is a cupcake! i didn't eat it, just took a picture!)
...instead of name tags on tables there was a jar with your photo in it - love! (the gorgeous jaz, what a poser!)
margie, margie, margie. i love this woman more than i can say. and she was the birthday goddess, what fun!
(me and sabrina hoeing into pizza. man they had good food too!)
the weekend was full of beautiful people. i met some blog readers, and owners of my artwork. that is always so cool, to make that connection. i loved talking to you guys, sharing stories along with hugs and a few tears too. the power of us women is a good good thing. spark made me feel refreshed and uplifted (amazing, considering the ridiculous amount of sleep i had), with a renewed promise to nurture my (creative) self. it was a great weekend of hanging with friends - old and new. it was pure goodness :)
(most of these awesome pics are courtesy of jaz!)
