if the three little pigs could do it, surely the 5 little falcos can build a house of straw?! oh, this is a dream of ours - to build ouw own strawbale house. since we first saw one years ago it seemed like such a cool option for affordable, eco-friendly housing. since we have been slaves to the rental system (and bums to our family), its a dream that has kinda been forgotten, until now (inspired by how much we do not love the rental homes in our budget, a friend moving into her dream strawbale, and my dear nicole and her lovely strawbale studio i so miss being in). therefore we plan, dream and scheme the life we want for our family.
to live in the trees, have chickens and a goat and live in a house that we LOVE because it is just our style - sigh!
we are talking about just how do you turn dreams into reality? (really, how do you?) it's exciting.
and bookmarking. lots of bookmarking!

How do you turn dreams into reality?
Just thought I would put this out there...
I just want to scream from the bottom of my heart - TAPPING ( meridian tapping, EFT )
I am turning my dreams into reality and many others are/have too. Still learning but it is an amazing tool!
Hugs,
Cree

That would be fabulous wouldn't it...I went to a straw bale house building course many years ago in the UK where I was living at the time and have always thought I'd like to build one some day!

Oh, I think straw houses are just the coolest, especially with a living roof *sigh*. I saw the construction of a straw bale home on TV once and I have been in one in Las Vegas... it had a little window into the straw in the walls. I know you can do it. I can feel the love and life and fulfillment that will fill your handmade home.

Get two goats, one will drive you nuts :-) Love the house pictures, a strawbale or cob home is in my dreams too. I've been reading your blog for a long time, love it :-)

Strawbale homes are affordable, easy to build, great for insulation and apparently fire-proof after the rendering part. I think they're fabulous and I wish you every success in achieving your goal of owning one.

Did your friend open up an etsy shop? I love her scarves in the old post so I'm curious.

WOW, I didn't know about homes like this. I checked out your sources and they are beautiful. I am imagining you in a home like this, with the walls painted the most beautiful colors.

Hi Em
I've been reading your blog for a while but never commented.
Anyway.
Have you heard of the hobbit houses? If you search for Simon Dale on google, you should get his page and see the house he's built for his family - it's really great! I can just see your family living in one :)

how to turn dreams into reality....?
plan it, visualise it, set goals, put pictures up where you can see them every day & write positive statements about your dream that you will also see multiple times a day...believe it....make it happen !! xxxx

one baby step at a time!
we are so glad that we waited until the right moment to buy our house. we paid $30,000 for it. seriously. 2,200 square feet on 2+ acres on the river. now we are s l o w l y fixing it up using our own two hands and using the resources we can find for cheap and/or free!
although it's a lot of work...i think it's SO worth it to do things yourself.
i can't wait to see what you create. it's going to be amazing...i just know it!

OK, that photo with the tree made into the wall...I WANT THAT FOR MY HOUSE, LOL. So amazing. I would decorate that tree with every change of season.
Hold onto your dreams and work toward them.

My husband and I have been dreaming of this too, but just can't decide where we want to live. He's from the west coast, WA and I'm from the south, KY and we are currently stuck in Oklahoma of all places. I dream a dream of a strawbale house in Skagit Valley amoung the mountains and tulips! Ahh! If you figure out how to make it a reality, please blog about it.

I dream of having chickens, too. Keep checking out all the "how to keep chickens" books at the library! As my husband is still a student, it will be awhile. I totally understand the waiting! :)

A friend of mine up here in Vermont built their house from straw and stuccoed it. It's gorgeous and you would love it! They have a frame around a part of their wall where they cut a hole so you can see the straw inside the walls. So cool!

a few years ago we visited a strawbale house. it was the humid sticky height of summer, but when we walked through those doors it was naturally air conditoned bliss. it has alway been my dream, too. maybe one day :)

I took my then-12 yr old son on a holiday to mayne island off canada's west coast where we rented bikes and lived in a cob house for several days. there are several cob houses on the island, and the man who rented to us gave us a tour of his land and his various projects. he takes on apprentices over the summer months, and people come out for courses and live in his private campground. sometimes he offers a barter, ie one lady took the course for free because she was also the camp cook, etc. SO amazing. the workmanship, the community, the everything... i can't wait to go back one summer and learn...
there are some pix in my FB album here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=274625&id=880755120&l=5648062206
