green - white

 

if you've been coming here for a while, you know that lying under a tree in the warm sun is my bliss!! looking up at the sky and soaking up my family along with the sunshine...it is a healer of all things. it brings me back to basics. so we have been spending all our time outside (hence the blog break!)...some of us up the trees, some of us under :) but the trees! so much green.

and then this weekend...with no warning whatsoever, white. WHITE! i was completely unprepared for this (emotionally and physically - snow clothes? boots? i haven't unpacked the toys let alone such sensible items as these)...a good 15 inches of snow.


the children were thrilled and once snow gear was located (hey it still fits - no wonder, we were all wearing it less that 6 months ago!), and from my cosy spot on the couch i must admit that white is very pretty too.

but

i really do prefer green!

settling in

SO...we moved from suburbia, to the countryside...and oh.my.goodness.we LOVE IT... trees, space, trees, more space...for the first time in a long time this feels SO GOOD.

the property has an orchard (mum and banjo off apple picking above), field, old barn and woods to play in. we feel very grateful and happy to be here!

it's going to take a while to make the space feel like 'us' - i'm working slowly on each room, with plenty of sewing ideas piling up in my mental list, thrifting finds to be discovered, and photos to hang on the walls - yes, photos! i am so excited about this. i haven't before put much effort into decorating a house, but this time i am really going to do it! (on a budget...so watch this space!)

it's been so lovely having my mum here for a few weeks, especially during a transitional time...she's been bustling in the kitchen and taking children on long walks...finding all sorts of edibles from the orchard and field and magically turning them into delicious things for us to enjoy.

its been a full, full month of changes, sunshine, barefoot romping, hard work, flustered-ness, cosy fires, piles, boxes, chaos, travel, motherly love and not quite enough sleep.

hi there

i know, what a slacker i am - almost no blogging at all for the entire month of october!

i'm here to report that we are all alive and well, just making baby-steps back into the online world, of which i took a nice juicy break from.

our house is a disastor of half-unpackedness and i just returned from my trip to utah for spark, which was wonderful and i fully intend to fill you in on it all - i just have to ease myself back in here :)

also starting tomorrow is our felting class at big picture. not too late to sign up!
