support a sistah!

hi folks, just shouting out for my dear friend morgs - she is grabbing life by the whatsits and following her dream of hosting her own cooking show - morgs was my first ever friend when i moved to LA, we lived in the same apartment building and during those first few weeks when we were basically squatting in our apartment with nothing but a backpack each (and floods of homesick tears!) - she'd be there knocking on my door with bedding and all kinds of home baked treats and meals, and invitations to come downstairs to her cosy home and watch things on tv that made me laugh. i kind of love her forever.

her and her family have moved back to the boston area (where they were before LA), which is so exciting to me to have them close! and she's launched a kickstarter project to get her dream into a reality...could you help a sistah out? donate a few bucks or spread the word to your rich friends?!! farm-y

where does one go in the backwoods of new england, when one has no money to spend but many children to entertain? why, a farm! there are so many of them around here - some we go to to get food from, some we go to take walks throughout, some to watch big sis have a riding lesson, some to pat the animals and say hello to the tractors! each child drawn in by something they find fascinating, each trip and farm a new adventure for us. moments to be grateful for thats for sure. for this ever changing and adventurous thing we call life. and these beautiful little people i can share it with (who spend the rest of the day begging for a pony/sheep/goat/another bunny!)...

me + some camera straps

it was over 5 years ago that i opened my little etsy shop selling camera straps, and it was such a great little business for me - easy to sew up with a baby in the sling or toddler playing on the floor nest to me. delicious colours and designs that inspired me. i enjoyed connecting with people buying the straps (and even 'met' one of my dear friends, denise, throught the sale of a red strap!). when i started i was one of about 3 people offering pretty camera straps on etsy - now of course there are a bazillion different sellers and some really cool choices out there! it's not so much my thing anymore, and earlier this year i closed down my etsy shop to figure out what i want to do (for the one day when i get some time to do it!) - but...there is a but! a friend of mine just returned from india and brought me some amazing sari borders! the texture is just so beautiful and the colours so ruch. i dug in my studio and found some strap supplies...i've opened up a simple shop to sell these last babies! i'm trying out big cartel - haven't done anything fancy to it but its working for now!

i'm sad that summer is ending but also in great need of a regular schedule including some studio time and space for thinking and creating - its been on the backburner for so long. i try so hard to pour everything into my children, but i'm realising more and more that if i am not filling myself up with things i feel passionate about, i can't be the mumma i want to be! i'm really loving making new clothes from old clothes and hope to follow that path for a while (i've been slowly creating a pile of things to sell at squam)...so one of these days a shop might be in the works!

oh yeah!!

we were invited to a badmington tournament at a friends place this weekend, and, well, seeing as i've never played badmington before in my life (and am not known for my coordination/athletic abilities) we decided we should at least look awesome...if we were gunna go down in flames at least we could do do with wolves on our chests, right?!!

i got a bunch of 'reject' (why on earth are these rejects you might ask?!!) tshirts to use as fabric in my skirtmaking adventures and could not pass up an opportunity to whip up some uniforms for us...complete with a flared leg pantsuit for banjo!
(banjo took our instructions "intimidate to dominate" seriously)

being the good friend that i am, i shared the fugly tshirt lovin with our friends too! sadly both team rainbow unicorn and falco-fire-wolves were thrashed by team kitty power...meow!
