as well as swimming, our summer can be summarised thus far by two other major events - farms and berries! we have an abundance of berries & currants growing in our fields and garden here, so many that i've been selling some to our local cafe. the kids 'chore' each day is to pick, pick, pick (oh the injustice!), and i've been bagging berries galore to freeze for later smoothies and desserts. i'm on the hunt for a cheap chest freezer as we don't have nearly enough space for all the things i could be stashing away right now.
the farms around here are just so incredibly beautiful and magical this time of year! we have been saying yes to every farm invite and opportunity to see and learn. hay rides last week were a highlight, along with the biggest pigs we've ever seen. every friday i drive out to a local farm and collect 14 baskets of csa vegetables to deliver around town. it's been awesome to do this in exchange for our own share, which is an abundance of organic goodness that i couldn't afford otherwise.
it's such a different kind of summer here to what i am used to in australia, we are enjoying everything summer has to offer here. apart from the bugs ;)
