it was so very yummy to have chels here last week. we became friends while we were both living in the US (pics from our visit with her family in ithaca, NY here and here), she has become one of my dearest friends and so much fun to be with! having been back in australia for 2 years now she knows everything i have gone through - it almost seems we are living parallel lives! moving, living in transition, surprise pregnancies, the eternal student for a husband etc etc! we had lots of great talks and laughs on a few bushwalks, my couch and in the kitchen...
(no idea why yindi looks as if she is eating a rotton lemon instead of chocolate cake batter!)
we got to have a girls + banjo day out to fremantle which is a must if you've never been to perth before! lots of fun little shops to browse in (note to self: your body is still not ready for the harsh reality of a changeroom mirror. don't try on new clothes again for 6 more months), yummy food to be tasted and streets to stroll down. i love this funky wall down one street and knew chels would love it too...
we were taking pictures and loving the craziness of it when this old bearded guy starts chatting away to us and it turns out he is the artist! it was really great to hear his story of his years of (illegal!) painting and designing of this wall. his baby. i think he was chuffed to see us striking our poses against it ;)

there is nothing like spending time with such an beautiful soul-friend to give your tired old self a pick-me-up! someone you can feel comfy with no matter how many fat rolls or milk stains may be adorning you. someone who just makes you feel good to be in the same room with, and who always finds the fun in life. chels, i love you...lets rendezvous in tassie next ;)
